This is a moderate and scenic adventure leading us to the high areas within the beautiful Langtang Himal range in the picturesque Kyanjin Gompa. Kyanjin Gompa is located above 3.749m and faces the giant peaks of Langtang and Jugal Himal.

Langtang Himal Panorama trekking is a perfect holiday for people of all age groups. Therefore, just about anyone can enjoy the scenic trail with a few ascents and descends. Additionally, we also have a few days to get acclimatized during the itinerary for acclimatization during daily hikes. Along with this, we also get overnight stays at a local lodge in the harmonic Tamang people's hospitality.

On this beautiful Langtang Himal Panorama trek, we enter the enchanting woodland filled with tall rhododendron-magnolia and pine trees. Along with this, we can also find small bamboo groves. The small bamboo groves make it ideal for the elusive Red Panda. Therefore, we are lucky we can witness this rare and cute creature on the walk to Langtang Valley.

We start this journey with an interesting drive from Kathmandu before heading north to reach the cooler alpine region at Rasuwa district. This district is populated by the ancient tribe of Tamang, filled with Buddhists. The culture in this region is similar to Tibetan culture. In fact, Tibetan culture and Tibet are only a short distance from the border of Tibet, located on the other side of the Langtang Himal range.

Our walk continues as we head past the beautiful cultural villages with farm fields and terraces. Then, we enter into a river gorge covered within the forest as our trek progresses. Then, we reached a higher area towards Kyanjin Gompa within the beautiful Langtang valley, enclosed with high mountains.

Here, we have plenty of time to enjoy the views and observe the local customs and the traditional life of the villagers. Then we head back to the road on the same scenic trail to Syabrubesi village. Our journey concludes with a drive back to Kathmandu after a marvelous time on Langtang Himal Panoramic Trekking.

Itinerary

After reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly received by our guide and staff. They will guide us to our respective hotels in the sub of Kathmandu. After checking into the hotel rooms and getting refreshed, we joined other members of Langtang Himal Panorama trekking for a group briefing. There, our experts guide us regarding our stay in Nepal. Furthermore, they also inform us regarding trekking, local lodges, and drives, along with do's and don'ts. Then we have an evening dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurants with Folk cultural programs to entertain us during our meals.

Our morning begins with breakfast before leaving for a guided sightseeing tour around Kathmandu. Here, our guides lead us around the places of interest, such as the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Although Kathmandu is an urban city, it still retains a lot of its ancient heritage. Therefore, we can enjoy many historical sites around Kathmandu. We then have an afternoon free to prepare for our journey the next day to the Langtang Himal region north of Kathmandu.

Our morning begins with an exciting drive on Kathmandu to Dhunche-Syabrubesi highway. We head towards the Himalayan foothills. Then, after reaching the Trisuli Bazar, we head towards the long winding road towards the cooler alpine forests past the farm villages and town to reach the Dhunche. Dhunche is located at 1,950m high. The Dhunche is the headquarters and the main town of Rasuwa district within the Langtang Himal range. This is also the place where Langtang National Park starts and ends. From Dhunche, we drive downhill on a zig-zag road to reach Syabrubesi village, the home of the Tamang tribe, in the shadow of Ganesh and Langtang Himal. Once we reach Syabrubesi, we stay in a nice and cozy lodge at Syabrubesi.

Our first day of walking begins from Syabrubesi. From this, our journey ascends for a while. However, the rest of the journey is on a gradual and winding uphill trail past the terraced farm fields and villages. Then our trail descends and joins near the Riverside location called Bamboo. We follow the glacial Trisuli River upstream as our path climbs into the cool shade of rhododendron and oak forests. Then we take a pleasant six-hour walk before reaching the clearing at Lama-Hotel for an overnight stay in a nice lodge

Our second day leads us into the deep woodland to a location called Ghoretabela. Here, we stay for lunch amidst a lovely forest surrounded by pines, hemlock, and rhododendron trees. From here, we can feel the gain of altitude. After a pleasant break, we continued on the trail to Langtang and its beautiful valley. Then, we walk for a few hours into the cool shade of the woodland. After this, we cross a stream as we leave the tree line. Then, we climb for an hour before our walk continues on a gradual trail. After a day-long trek, we finally reached Langtang village for an overnight stop. It is one of the large villages within the Langtang area. This area was destroyed by avalanches and landslides from a major earthquake on the April 25th, 2015. This village is slowly coming back to life.

From Langtang village, we take a short walk with a slow uphill climb for a few hours as we follow the Mani prayer walls. Here, we walk in the clockwise direction to the local Tamang culture and Buddhist religion. Then the walk leads further northeast, where the gorge opens into a scenic wide valley facing views of the stunning snow-capped peaks. Then we take a few hours of gradual walk surrounded by stunning views at Kyanjin Gompa. This is the highest peak of the trek and the highlight spot of the adventure at charming and scenic spots. It offers us grand views of the Langtang Lirung and its icefall. This location is further surrounded by a rocky ridge formed by a glacial moraine of rocks and boulders.

On the seventh day of our journey, we take a day to rest and explore a small cheese factory. Another option here is that we can walk to Tsergo-Ri, located above 4,700 m. This trek adds a bit more height, which offers a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains.

After a wonderful time at Kyanjin, we retrace our journey back on the same route to Lama-hotel. It is a small settlement amidst the forest by the bank of the upper Trishuli River.

On the final day of walking, we head back to Syabrubesi. Our walk follows the same trail we ascended as we head downhill past the spread-out farm and terrace fields. Then we reach Bhote Kosi river. After crossing a suspension bridge, our walk takes us to Syabrubesi for our final overnight stay.

On the tenth day of our journey, we drove back to Kathmandu. For this journey, we head to lower, warmer areas around Nuwakot at Trisuli Bazar. Then, our drive brings us back to Kathmandu, where we spend the afternoon in leisure.

Our journey concludes as we head towards Tribhuvan International Airport to board the flight towards our home.

Information on AMS and Precaution Measures:

High Altitude or Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS is a set of symptoms that anyone can face on high altitude treks.

This occurs due to high pressure and low oxygen levels as we gain altitude. Some of the symptoms include the following:

                        • Shortness of breath
                        • Light headache
                        • Nausea
                        • Dizziness
                        • Lack of good sleep
                        • Decrease in appetite

To avoid these symptoms, we at Explorer Adventure design an itinerary with days for acclimatization and adequate rest.

Another good way to avoid acclimatization is to ascend at a slow pace. This includes stopping frequently to catch breaks and drinking lots of fluids.

To prevent altitude sickness (AMS), it's essential to rest, take short and gentle hikes at higher altitudes to enjoy the views and acclimatize, and spend your nights at lower altitudes. If you can't ascend quickly, it's best to go slowly, have overnight stops at specific altitudes to adapt to the new height, and take it easy for the first one or two days.

We also recommend having a list of general medications from home and following your doctor's advice. Your doctor may suggest basic medications for issues like diarrhea, headaches, fever, colds, and constipation, along with first-aid supplies for cuts, wounds, and burns. This preparation ensures you're ready for any health concerns during your high-altitude adventure.
