Classic Everest base camp trekking leads you on the original trail towards the southern and northern areas of Everest. As well as around lovely villages and valleys of the Solo-Khumbu district in the harmony of lovely exciting Sherpa cultures.

Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking, an opportunity to walk along the original route to the main highlight of Everest Base Camp. Where trail follows the footsteps of earlier legendary mountaineers the late Tenzing and Hillary, who walked and pioneered the route. Since then the southern and lower region of Khumbu and Everest remains as the classic trail. After the Lukla airstrip was built in the mid-1970 the original trekking route has been almost forgotten.

The main flow of trekkers to Everest Base Camp flies directly to Lukla Tenzing & Hillary Airport. Making the trek shorter, and easier completing the whole journey in less than two-week duration. While the classic route takes almost three weeks that is taking a drive to the starting point of the trek. As well as completing the whole exciting adventure of Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking.

Although a longer journey than taking a short flight to Lukla and back, but worth the experience. Enjoy the scenic walks crossing a few passes over Lamjura and Takshindo to reach the higher side of Upper Khumbu Valley.

Classic Everest base camp trekking starts with an interesting overland journey to the starting point of the trek. Where trail follows through lovely farm villages with grand scenery of beautiful landscapes and snow-capped peaks.

The walk leads to up and downhill paths amidst lovely forests and then reaches the villages of Ringmo, Takshindo, and Nantahala. Then finally the trail takes you towards the high Khumbu valley, on reaching the Sagarmatha National Park.

The national park designated a world heritage site, covers the whole area of Khumbu from Monjo village onwards. Trekkers can feel the difference walking from the lower Solu to the high region of Khumbu, which is quite busy with trekkers.

However, the views of giant mountains and local impressive cultures make the trek even more interesting and worthwhile. On joining the main trail to Everest Base Camp from the quiet and serene lower areas of Solu-Khumbu.

The walk leads to several lovely villages and then an undulating climb reaches you at the famous Namche Bazaar. The capital of Khumbu villagers, and an enjoyable place and perfect altitude for acclimatization days.

From Namche Bazaar the true adventure begins heading towards mountainous terrains, past the beautiful spot of Tengboche Monastery. Then slowly the tree lines give away shorter alpine bushes and shrubs on reaching the barren high country.

Slowly the walk leads high above Khumbu Valley, after spending overnights in Dingboche and Lobuche settlements. The trail finally reaches you on the foot of Mt. Everest at the world’s highest peaks base camp.

An amazing place to experience filled with massif moraine of ice and glaciers within close to the notorious Khumbu Ice-Fall. On completing the major target of the adventure, a steep and exciting climb takes you to the top of Kalapathar Hill. A rocky famous scenic ridge for grand views of towering snow peaks with Mt. Everest at a mere distance.

After a great exciting thrill to experience, our adventure slowly comes to an end returning to Namche Bazaar. The walk then follows towards our quiet trail to Solu areas for an adventurous and interesting drive to Kathmandu. Itinerary

On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuwan International Airport where you will be warmly received by our guide and staff and then transfer you to your respective hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.

First check into your hotel rooms on getting refreshed from the flight and with Jet-Lag, then join with other members of Everest Base Camp the Original Way trekking for group briefing, where our expert guides will inform regarding your stay in Nepal, hotels, trekking, local lodge and overland drives with do’s and don’ts information, evening welcome group dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurants with Folk cultural programs to entertain you during your meals.

    Morning after breakfast leave the hotel for exciting guided sightseeing around Kathmandu where our city guide will lead you to places of interest, Kathmandu a metropolitan city still retains its ancient heritage and varied ancient culture where you will visit world heritage sites around Kathmandu for half day or full day.

    After an interesting and wonderful tour of ancient historical and religious sites around Kathmandu, with afternoon free preparation for next day drive to Jiri and Bhandar for Everest base camp the Original Way Trek.

      Morning depart from the hotel for exciting long overland journey towards east of Nepal and Kathmandu with drive to reach the starting point of the trek from Bhandar, as ride leads on ups and downhill past rural farm villages and town to reach at Jiri town.

      An interesting place with lively markets, from here few hours drives past Jiri on bumpy and winding rough dirt road to reach at Bhandar a nice pleasant village of mixed tribe of people mostly Sherpa, Tamang, Magar with some Hindu Brahmins and Chettries people and for overnight stop in this lovely village after a long interesting drive of more than six hours .

        From Bhandar our first day walk starts to Kenja another lovely village a short trek of few hours where walk leads on winding pleasant trail with some ups and downhill past farm villages and terraced fields to reach at Kenja for overnight stop with views of Numbur Himal towards north, here with time to explore the village mostly populated by Sherpa people and observe its colorful culture and traditional life.

          Walk begins with steep climb into cool serene forest to reach at Sherpa village in Sete then heading further up past several scattered farm houses and into deep woodland of tall rhododendron-oaks-pines-magnolia and fir tree lines to reach at Guranse for overnight stop, located in the midst of rhododendron forest with few tea-houses serving as lodges.

            Morning walk leads to first pass of the trek reaching at the top of Lamjura-la pass after few hours of good climb, a high cooler area with some nice lodges for refreshment, with some time here having break then heading over the pass with downhill to reach the base of the past at Toc-Toc small village.

            Here for possible lunch stop, as afternoon walk leads on a winding gradual up to a ridge and then downhill to reach a large Sherpa village at Junbesi, a lovely and interesting place for overnight stop, with time to browse around the village.

              After a pleasant and wonderful stop in Junbesi, morning walk leads to slow winding uphill path to reach at Syalung danda village with first glimpse of Mt. Everest with other Khumbu Himal and peaks, from here on near level path with downhill to a river after crossing a bridge climb up to Ringmo village.

              Afternoon walk having lunch at Ringmo heading up into lovely forested area to reach on top Takshindo pass with great views of peaks within Khumbu region, from here downhill to Takshindo village and its monastery with further descend to reach a nice and a large village at Nunthala for overnight stop. Nunthala of mixed people of Sherpa-Kirat, Rai some Magar-Tamang with Hindu Chettries and Dalits which make this village more interesting with lots shops-teahouses, lodges and many shops and stores.

                Morning walk leads past village with long descend past farm areas and into forest to reach at the bottom of the hills near raging Dudh-Kosi River, after crossing a bridge with gentle winding uphill to Jubing village of Rai farmers and then with more climb for few hours to reach a fairly large village of Khari-Khola with mixed tribe of hill people mostly Sherpa with lots of shops and lodges around.

                From here crossing Khari-Khola (Stream) with steep hill climb for few hours to reach a top ridge at Bupsa Danda a moderate size village with lodges to stay offering super views of landscapes and mountains.

                  From here on air gets much cooler as walk leads into high Khumbu areas heading uphill into enchanting woodland to reach at Pyuin village (pronounced as Paya) in the midst of a forest, as walk progress on gentle path with views of Lukla towards North, then walk downhill to Surkhe village for overnight stop the village located at the bottom of Lukla town and its runway.

                    From Surkhe a gradual walks to begin with ups and then on winding trail past nice farm villages of Sherpa enriched with Buddhism religion and culture as you encounter rows of Mani (prayer) monuments and large spinning bells. Slowly our pleasant first day walks completes reaching at Phakding a moderate size village with many good lodges for overnight stop by the bank of glacial Dudh Kosi River.

                      Today walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar where altitude gains as walk progress, morning walk starts following the river and crossing several times to reach at Monjo village near Sagarmatha National Park entrance, from here walking on river valley and gorge covered within nice woodland of tall rhododendron-pines and fir trees.

                      After crossing a high last bridge with few hours climb to Namche Bazaar with stunning views of Everest-Lhotse and Kongde peaks. Namche Bazaar at 4,440 m high an ideal place for rest day to acclimatize, the main town / village of Khumbu where colorful and exciting Saturday market takes place once a week.

                        Rest day for acclimatization before heading higher terrain, morning after breakfast with options for hike to Everest View Hotel or walk on top of Namche, where you can catch super landscapes scenery with Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam with series of high peaks, here enjoy visiting National Park Museum provides you with much information of Khumbu region, Sherpa history-culture-flora and fauna including detail on mountaineering.

                          Enjoying pleasant time at Namche, morning walk leads to scenic and gradual walks overlooking Everest and other giant peaks, as our route leads downhill to Imjatse river at Phunki Tenga, a small place with few lodges an ideal spot for refreshing break or lunch stop.

                          Afternoon walk leads uphill into enchanting alpine forest to reach a beautiful surrounding at Thyangboche Monastery offering grand panorama of mountains with Everest and Amadablam at close distance, here with time for tour into monastery and witness monks and priest on prayer. Thyangboche also holds a ‘Mani-Rimdu’ a colorful religious festival where monks with mask dancing wading evil spirits which falls in the month of October as per Buddhist lunar calendar.

                            Morning catching super views of high peaks with Everest, our route descends into forested areas reaching a metal bridge, from here a slow climb encountering mani (prayer) walls along the walks to Pangboche village, this is a last Sherpa permanent village on route to Everest base camp.

                            From here walk leads on barren and arid country where tree lines drops for small bushes of juniper and dwarf rhododendron (azalea). Walk leads uphill into a river gorge and then finally opens up into a wide glacial valley on reaching Dingboche with many good lodges around facing views of Imjatse or Island peaks towards east.

                              From Dingboche walk climbs to a ridge marked with prayer flags and Stupas, then walking on nice gradual uphill facing marvelous scenery to reach at a small place in Thugla where Khumbu glaciers melts into a torrential river.

                              A perfect place for rest and lunch stop, where afternoon walks leads to a steep climb at Thugla hill a place with memorials of unfortunate climbers who died on climbs around mountains of Khumbu and Everest. Walk continues for another few hours on nice gradual up to Lobuche for overnight stop, a place with several nice lodges with views of Nuptse and Lobuche peaks.

                                Today a great walk towards our main highlight and final destinations to reach Everest Base Camp, as morning walk leads on open wide valley with slow climb to reach above Khumbu glaciers, walking past moraine dunes reaching at Gorakshep, a place with few lodges on the junction of Everest base camp and Kalapatthar route.

                                Gorakshep was a base camp of Everest expeditions in early 1950’s to late 1970’s before the route was made further away to present base camp. From Gorakshep few hours walk over moraine and glacier to reach our ultimate destination at base camp with sweeping views of giant peaks of Nuptse-Lo la, Nuptse with notorious huge Khumbu Ice Falls and glaciers.

                                In high mountaineering season this place will be active with climbers and crews with many camps set on top of moraine and glaciers. After a grand time then head back to Gorakshep for highest overnight stop of the adventure with fantastic memories of the day walks to Everest base camp.

                                  Morning climb to Kalapatthar above 5,545 m, the highest point of the trek offering incredible panorama of mountains with Everest at stone throw distance. With amazing time on top head back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue trek downhill past Lobuche and Thugla, where walk leads to windy Pheriche valley with many good lodges with time for lunch break at Pheriche.

                                  After Pheriche walk leads down with short climb and then a long descend to reach our overnight stop at Pangboche village with unique views of Ama Dablam at close distance.

                                    From Pangboche morning walk downhill to cross a bridge over Imjatse Rive and then an hour climb to Thyangboche Monastery within green vegetation and tree lines, with time here to relax and enjoy the scenic views, and then head downhill to Phunki Tenga with climb for an hour to reach a small place at Kyanjinma for overnight stop, which is on route to Namche, a pleasant peaceful spot facing views of Everest-Ama Dablam and Tharmasarku with other range of peaks.

                                    Here chances of spotting some wild-life like musk deer, herd of Himalayan Thar and pheasant Danfe (national bird of Nepal).

                                      After a pleasant morning with super views of Everest and adjoining peaks, a nice walk leads you at Namche with time for lunch break and stroll around its bazaar with stores and shops, afternoon walk downhill to Dudh Kosi River to reach at Monjo village for overnight stop before Lukla.

                                        Our last walk of the adventure a short trek of few hours following on the same trail back to Lukla past Phakding and Ghat villages crossing few times over Dudh Kosi, with last final climb to reach Lukla town For last overnight stop around high scenic Khumbu and Everest region.

                                          Morning transfer to Lukla Tenzing and Hillary airport for sweeping short flight to Kathmandu facing scenic views of mountains, green scenery of hills and farm fields with nice villages and towns as flight lands at Kathmandu airport and then back to your hotel, with free afternoon to relax of great memorable adventure on Everest Base Camp the Original Way Trekking.

                                              Insurance policy for Medical and Travel:

                                              Should cover medical insurance for illness and emergency evacuation by Helicopter or other means of transportations including other expenses on treatment at respective countries hospitals, as for travel insurance against bad unfavorable weather conditions, delay or cancellation of domestic flights on mountainous area where flight involves on the start of trek and at the end.

                                              Travel and Medical Insurance also needs to cover when clients break the journey in the middle of the trip, due to sickness-personal domestic problem etc………

                                              Guide and Porters for 22 Days Classic Everest Base Camp Trekking: 

                                              On treks or climb where you will be accompanied by our expert guide who knows the area on route of the trek chosen, we have professional and veteran guides to led the trek where you can feel comfortable, as our guide are knowledgeable offers you various information of the country from history-geography, culture to flora and fauna.

                                              All guides have gone through basic medical training that includes high altitude symptoms or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) can help you with simple medical First Aid and for severe condition will support taking you to safe area or to nearest hospitals by any means of quick transportation.

                                              Our guides are well versed in Eco-Trekking and Responsible Tourism as well and are committed in keeping the environment on trekking route in pristine form as it was.

                                              Porters are picked can be regular porter of the company of hired in Kathmandu-Pokhara or in Lukla on start of the trekking, with always a strong and cheerful porters to carry your heavier luggage, baggage of 15 to 25 kg maximum weights to carry by each porters, we do not allow underage porters of below 16 years of age or above 50 years.

                                              Porters and guide are well looked after by the company with good wages, medical insurance, travel allowance including meals on treks and climb company also provides warm gear in winter as well for high and cold altitude trips.

                                              Information of AMS and Precaution Measures:

                                              High Altitude or Acute Mountain Sickness for short as AMS a symptom faced and can catch any people on high altitude adventure walks.

                                              Due to high pressure and low oxygen level as certain height where some people feel uneasiness with shortness of breathiness, light headache, nausea, dizziness, lack of good sleep and with less appetite.

                                              To avoid these whole symptoms where we always designed itinerary days accordingly with enough space, flexible days for acclimatization at high elevation, taking short walks up and sleeping and resting at low places.

                                              The other good way to avoid AMS taking slow and steady pace on walks, stopping frequently to catch your breath and adding lot of fluid or safe drinking water at least 2-3 liters a day to support against AMS.

                                              On high altitude take enough rest and with short slow hike above high hills to catch views as well to support acclimatization and sleeping and resting at low altitude will certainly helps you in avoiding AMS.

                                              Useful in situations when you cannot make high ascent, the best ways to prevent altitude sickness doing it slowly, stopping for overnights at certain altitude to adjust to the new height, and taking it easy for first one or two 2 days.

                                              In our list we always mention general medication to bring from home as well from your doctor advice also, your doctor might recommend you some basic medication list like medicine against diarrhea, headache, fever, cold-flu as well constipation including first aid for cuts-wounds and burns as well.

                                               *Duffel bags for trek will be perovided on Day 2 should be returned after the trek is over.

                                              *Sleeping bag (comfort temperature around -5 C). On the upper lodges they usually provide woolen blankets. You can rent a sleeping bag in       Kathmandu, $1-2 per day.

                                              • Starting the trek from Jiri town and beyond at Shivalaya village, walk on the original classic trail. Following the footsteps of legendary mountaineers Tenzing & Hillary, when they use the same route for the conquest of Mt. Everest in 1953.

                                                The trek after visiting Everest base camp and climb of Kalapathar hill top, then walking back down past Namche and Phakding. Then avoiding the main route reaching at Phaplu or Salleri town for drive back to Kathmandu. 

                                              • Depending upon the booking and best seasons of the year, normally the company gets minimum of 2-4 people on the average. But the company also run and organize for single individual trekkers also.

                                              • Yes, most large villages or smaller settlement have the facilities of hydroelectricity or from solar power. Where trekkers can charge their electronic gadgets and items, on paying a fee as per hour and per items. 

                                              • The food and accommodation on the whole trek is good, depending upon the trekker choice of budgets. In the beginning the lodge around Solu area is simple and clean, but reaching high Khumbu at Phakding. The lodge are of various standard from simple to deluxe lodges and resorts. Most villages and settlement provides simple and clean rooms for two people, attached bath / toilets or common.

                                                Foods are served in a big warm dining room, choosing the right food from comprehensive menu. Serves homemade set menu to La Carte’ of Continental, Tibetan, Chinese, Nepali, Indian to varieties of deserts and warm drinks. Some lodge also serves fresh bakery products, as well Japanese, Korean, Mexican and Italian.

                                              • Depending upon the condition and symptoms of illness, for minor sickness staying in the same place for few days till he /she gets better to join with the groups. On very serious and critical condition if its altitude sickness of AMS bringing the patient down to a safe height. If not requires immediate emergency evacuation by fastest means of transport and that is using a Helicopter Service to bring the sick to Kathmandu for treatment.
