Your standard Kathmandu to Langtang Trek starts with an exhilarating drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. In the Kathmandu to Syabrubesi drive, you will move past the incredible landscapes of the hilly area and follow the trail alongside the Trishuli River. Before you reach your destination, you will also pass through the beautiful village of Dhunche. Your trekking adventure starts the next day, and you will follow the uphill reach to reach the Lama Hotel, a popular resting destination in Langtang Valley.
Then, moving further in your trekking journey, you will trek past the Langtang Village to reach the Kyanjin Gompa, one of the significant monasteries in the valley. However, your exploration doesn’t end here; the next day, you will hike to the highest vantage point of the Langtang Valley, Tsergo Ri.
After enjoying the panoramic views of the Himalayan massifs in the region, glaciers, and lush valleys from the top of this incredible vantage point, you will then descend down to Kyanjin. From the next day onward, your descending journey will begin; you will trek down the same route, retracing your steps through Langtang Village and Lama Hotel to reach Syabrubesi.
You will then drive back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi, moving along the same enchanting trails at the banks of Trsihuli; you will also pass vibrant settlements and lush hills to reach Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, you will be then dropped back to your designated hotel, which will mark the end of this Himalayan journey.

How Far is Langtang From Kathmandu?
Langtang region is one of the closed Himalayan trekking destinations from Kathmandu Valley. It is one of the reasons that contribute to the popularity of this exciting Himalayan exploration; you can reach the Langtang region after covering an approximate travel distance of 122 km (75.8 miles).
This drive to reach the starting point of the Langtang Valley Trek, Syabrubesi (1,470 meters) from Kathmandu (1,400 meters), takes around 6 to 7 hours. The starting point of this adventure is easily accessible by road and doesn’t require you to take long hours of exhausting drives or flights to start the trek.
Besides following this straight-up driving trail alongside the Trishuli River and across Dhunche (1,950 meters), there is also an alternative route available for this iconic Himalayan journey. You can drive from Kathmandu across Sundarijal (1,560 meters) to reach the other end of Langtang Valley, Kutumsang (2,445 meters) via Gol Bhanjyang. However, this trail is generally used for the return journey after completing the exploration of Gosaikunda Lake (4,380 meters).
How to Reach Langtang From Kathmandu?
The most efficient way to reach Langtang from Kathmandu is to take either a private vehicle or bus to reach the starting point of the trek Syabrubesi. In this journey, you will trek on the mainstream route, resting at the teahouses. As there are no viable flight options available in the Langtang Valley, taking this 6 to 7 hours is one of the most suitable ways to get to Langtang.
However, besides the incredible and diversified trekking packages that follow the trekking route, you can also use charted helicopter flights to reach Langtang from Kathmandu. This can be a slightly expensive way to reach the Langtang Valley from the capital city, but it is totally worth it. The aerial views of the Himalayan vistas and lush valleys will make your journey an unforgettable experience.

Your trekking adventure will start the very next day, and you will move along the mainstream route of Langtang Valley Trek across Lama Hotel (2,200 meters) and Langtang Village (3,307 meters) to finally reach Kyanjin Gompa (3,794 meters).
Then, after the next day’s hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters), you will make your descend on the same trekking route to the Lama Hotel. However, from here, it is time to move on to the next highlights of this exciting Himalayan exploration. Following the trails across Thulo Syabru Village (2,210 meters) and Sing Gompa (2,210 meters), you will reach the pristine glacial lake of Gosaikunda (4,380 meters).
After immersing in the spiritual and serene ambiance of this sacred lake, you will make your descent back to Sing Gompa. From there, you will then trek down to Dhunche Village (1,950 meters) and drive back to Kathmandu from there. Concluding your remarkable Himalayan journey, you will then depart for your home country, the next day.
Gosaikunda Langtang Himal Trekking- 15 Days

This trekking package also includes a full-fledged itinerary management from the day of your arrival to the day of your departure. You will move along the same mainstream route of the Langtang after Kathmandu (1,400 meters) to the Syabrubesi (1,470 meters) drive. What is the Right Time to Do Kathmandu to Langtang Trek?
Trekking adventures in Nepal are best during the high seasons, which generally have stable climatic conditions and moderate temperatures. Both spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons are famous for their incredible natural allurements and the perfect weather to accommodate the adventures.
Thus, Kathmandu to Langtang Trek is most enjoyable during these peak seasons. Spring unveils the magnificent grandeur of nature at its peak, and the trekking trails are covered with lush greenery. Also, you will have higher chances of exploring the witnessing the endangered flora and fauna of the Langtang National Park during this nature’s peak season.

How Difficult is This Trek?
Kathmandu to Langtang Trek in overall, is a milder form of Himalayan adventure. As there aren’t any significant challenges or technical sections along the trekking trails, this exploration is considered one of the easiest among the mainstream trekking adventures in Nepal.
You will not move to significant altitude jump points or have to cover a high Himalayan pass during this trek. Starting your journey at Syabrubesi (1,470 meters), you will move along the high-elevation points of the valley like Langtang Village (3,307 meters) and Kyanjin Gompa (3,794 meters).
The highest point of this entire trek is the Tsergo Ri (4,985 meters) viewpoint; if you find trekking to this high altitude point difficult, you also have the option to hike to another popular vantage point, Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters). Even though the altitude gain is not that significant, you will still need to be careful about the altitude sickness and follow appropriate precautionary methods.
Similarly, the overall trekking distance of the Langtang Trek is about 79 km (49 miles); you will trek for about 5-6 hours during each day of exploration. As this is a slow-paced excursion, you will walk slowly and take a shorter breather along the way during the trek.
Permits Required for Langtang Trek
During the Langtang Valley Trek, you will travel across the protected areas of the region. Thus, you will need to get the following permits for the trek:

- Langtang National Park Entry Permit
- Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) Card
The Langtang National Park Entry Permit, which costs about US$ 30 per person, is absolutely mandatory for this trek. This permit gives you access to the first national park in the country, and you will get the opportunity to witness the fascinating allurements of the national park.
Similarly, the TIMS Card is another required permit for this trek, which keeps a record of your position along the trekking route. This permit has been brought into circulation to enhance the safety features for the trekkers and costs around US$ 17 per person.
